The Bible challenges us in James 1:27 to “reach out to the widows and the orphans in distress”. It is telling us to care for people that do not have any means of supporting themselves. It also challenges us to reach out to the orphans and widows, not only in their vulnerability in the present, but also to the scars of the past that left them without guardians to care for them.

That is our mission at the Greater Hope Children's Home in Bangalore, India. We have taken in children from some of the worst stories imaginable and given them a secure and stable home with food, shelter and safety. Beyond that, we work with our children to not only keep them safe, but also to help them heal from their wounds of the past. Our goal is that when they eventually leave us, they can step forward into their destiny with a smile on their faces.
